Hello, I was trying to factory reset my Mac Catalina. When I started the process I chose the iMac HD startup disk. Then I got to the “Installing OS X” screen. When I was waiting for it to install, it stopped installing and it showed up that “OS X could not be installed on your computer, No packages were eligible for install. Contact the software manufacturer for assistance. Quit the installer to restart your computer and try again.” No matter how many times I tried to quit the installer and restart, it just wouldn’t work, it kept on saying “OS X could not be installed on your computer”. I already tried running first aid on the iMac HD disk, but when I did, the process failed. It said “First Aid process has failed. If possible back up the data on this volume.” How do I back up the data? And how do I fix the “couldn’t install OS X issue”? If you know how to fix any of these problems, please let me know.

(If this method didn’t work for you, we recommend you to re-install Mac OS X using the second method below.) Second Method – Re-install Mac OS X. Power off your Macbook or iMac completely. Turn on your Mac pressing and holding the Command + R Keys at the same time to boot into the Recovery Mode. After disk repairing, you can go to check whether the issue of Mac OS could not be installed on your computer persists. However, if First Aid shows the startup disk is OK, you need to use another method to solve the issue. Fix 7: Use Safe Mode. Another method to fix OS X could not be installed on your computer is to update your macOS in Safe Mode.
